NIC Bank has partnered with Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) Group to launch a co-branded credit card that will give customers an opportunity to give back to the Kenya Red Cross Society.
The Visa enabled NIC Kenya Red Cross Credit Card automatically gives existing and non-existing members the opportunity to sign up and donate to the humanitarian efforts nationwide.
“As NIC Bank we are proud of this partnership as it gives the bank and our customers an opportunity to be a part of a worthy cause. The Bank will donate a percentage of the income earned every time customers use the card back to the Kenya Red Cross,” said NIC Bank Group Managing Director Mr John Gachora.
“We are proud to be associated with the Kenya Red Cross and continually seek to develop similar partnerships as our commitment to giving back to the communities in which we operate,” said Mr. Gachora. “As an organization we pride ourselves on innovation and strive to constantly develop bespoke products and services for our valued partners and customers.”
The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) was set up through an Act of Parliament in 1965 to assist the Government of Kenya by providing humanitarian services to the most vulnerable in the communities, thus alleviating human suffering. Kenya Red Cross Society celebrated 50 years of service in Kenya last year and as it continues to lead humanitarian efforts in the country, it seeks to engage corporates, partners and well-wishers to make individual contributions towards the society’s noble cause of alleviating human suffering.
Though government and well-wishers often take note during times of crisis and allocate or donate resources towards the disasters, it is critical that Kenya Red Cross has the initial resources prepositioned and in place across the country to respond within the shortest time possible.
“As part of supporting our humanitarian efforts, we are happy to have partnered with NIC Bank to launch our co-branded Credit Card. This unique credit card will provide our members with the opportunity to pay their membership fees as well as to make individual donations directly to us. The credit card also allows users to contribute towards our humanitarian activities each time they use the card. NIC Bank has also generously committed to donating a portion of the revenue generated through our member’s usage of the card directly to the Kenya Red Cross disaster kitty. Users of the Credit Card will also benefit from discounts at selected merchants associated with the Kenya Red Cross,” said Kenya Red Cross Secretary General Mr Abbas Gullet.
Card holders will be able to make donations to the Kenya Red Cross using the card on a monthly, annual or ad hoc basis through instructions given to the Bank. The annual KRCS individual membership, of 1000, will be deducted in addition to the KES 2,500 subscription fee. Donations can also be made using the card on the KRCS secure payment portal, on its website.
In addition, the co-branded card will offer access to VIP lounges for international flights at the two main airports in Kenya, JKIA and Moi International Airport, at no additional cost.
The card is readily available across the NIC Bank branch network.
