Sustainability

SUSTAINAILITY STATEMENT

As NIC Bank Group, we take cognizance of the fact that our sustainability and success is dependent upon the environment and the communities in which we operate. It is our Group policy, therefore, to ensure that our activities meet and exceed the social, economic and environmental expectations of our stakeholders.

In 2010, the NIC Bank Group renewed its focus on its main corporate social responsibility programmes i.e. Education, Child Health and Environment, with a long term view of sustaining the projects at hand.

EDUCATION

Education remains a priority for the Group as it seeks to enhance access, ensure enrollment retention and reduce disparities and inequalities in the provision of secondary school education in Kenya. To ensure efficiency and effectiveness of its sponsorships, NIC Bank Group opted to partner with well established educational trusts and non-profit organizations. Organisations that benefited include, Palm House Foundation, Edumed Trust and Starehe Endowment Fund.

A brief scope of the ongoing education initiatives;

a) Palm House Foundation:

The foundation sponsors bright students from families that are financially challenged and most of whom have attended poorly equipped rural primary schools to attend secondary school.

Palmhouse Founder Trustee, Eric Kimani co-signs a governance agreement with Mary Atieno, admitted and sponsored to Ng’iya Girls High School, as NIC Bank Personal Director, James Wainaina and other NIC-sponsored student look on.
